The Pixies

I just got back from Houston today. We had a good time recording and I am throughly exhausted. I did not sleep much and had no internet access the majority of the time. A highlight was seeing the Pixies. The show was very good and they were everything I thought they would be. What I did not anticipate was a large man who was a total jerk. He was the obnoxious person that says, "I paid my money so I can ruin the concert for others" without a second thought. I don't think I have ever been closer to getting in a fight. It made me so mad because he had an attitude that since it was the Pixies and it was a "once in a lifetime" event that his need to have a good time was more important than anyone elses. This total lack of respect towards others made me furious. He was just some big over weight guy that was too much to push around so he got his way. I know for a fact that if some guy was doing the same things to him and blocking his view there would have been a rumble. The golden rule just seems dead.

I didn't get in a fight but I did start imagining the day he comes to an Ume show. Yes, I know this is not likely to happen, but on the slim chance it does, I know exactly what I am going to do. I will see the guy and say to him that I saw him at the Pixies show. A few words about how great that show was will be exchanged. I will then tell the bouncer that this guy needs to be removed from the club for a lack of respect to other people. I will also make sure that this is done when we are on stage so as to reveal his lack of judgement and humanity to everyone there. Hopefully this will be an impetus for a change in his attitude but I doubt it. Even though this may never happen, if someone is having a bad time at an Ume show because of someone elses disregard for others, that person will leave. The show will stop and that person will have to go before we start again. Ian McKaye is even more of an inspiration for me now.
