I am Back!

Tour is officially over and I am back to the daily grind of writing code and thinking in loops. On our last show in NYC we talked to some people who were interested in doing a full length record. They were very nice about everything and I think that we are all going to work very hard to put out and sell a great record. Their website is prettyactivity.com. One thing we were looking for in a label was someone who wanted to really try and get distribution, press, publicity etc. This tour, and summer in general, has taught us how important it is to go for it all the time whether or not you think you need to. I am very proud to say that we put on the best show we could at every show we played whether or not someone was there or not. Professionalism has become an important part of music for us.

I know that doesn't sound like the most "punk" or "diy" of attitudes but, if you look at any successfully band or person, the name of the game is how hard they work to be professional. Bands don't get successfull (measured however you wish) by sitting around, getting to shows late, not making hard confirmations for tour and double checking everything. A friend of mine once told me how Ian Mckaye called around 50 times to confirm one show my friend was helping to put on. Fugazi has an outline of where everything goes in their van so they can get the most amount of stuff in there for the money in order to keep costs to their shows low. They don't even have a ton of roadies to load crap on stage for them. This is the kind of professionalism that we strive for with Ume. We want to put on the greatest show and make good music because we love it and it is our responsibility as a band to do so.

With that said, we are very excited to put out a record. We will be doing a bit more touring to support it and hopefully get back in the studio soon after for some more music. My personal hope is that I can stop school for a bit to tour and play for a while. We'll see...
